Seeking Services for Myself
We understand that admitting you have a substance use problem is a difficult step, especially if you’re also dealing with co-occurring mental health conditions, such as anxiety or depression. To gain clarity on if you have an unhealthy relationship with drugs and/or alcohol, ask yourself the questions below and answer them to yourself as honestly as you can:
1
Have you tried to stop using drugs or alcohol but couldn’t?
2
Has a family member or loved one expressed concern about your drinking and/or drug use?
3
Do most or all of your social activities include drinking or using drugs?
4
Have you had regrets about your behavior after drinking or using?
5
Do you drink or use more than you used to to get the same effect?
6
Have you ever forgotten all or part of an evening after drinking?
7
Have you ever missed homework, a class, or done poorly on a test because of drinking or using?
8
Have you ever had personal, legal or financial problems related to drinking or using but didn’t alter your use patterns?
9
Have you ever tried to stop or cut down but weren’t always successful?
If you answered yes to two or more questions, you may be developing unhealthy drinking or substance use habits. As professional peers in recovery – meaning that we have lived experience with both addiction and recovery- we highly recommend that you seek support now before the situation worsens. Trust us, we’ve been through it and it only gets worse the longer you avoid it.
For many of us, substance misuse has led us down a long and weary road that was difficult to recover from and it took us years to repair the damage that was done. We’re talking criminal activity, jail time, going in and out of treatment centers, building up debt, broken relationships and destroying the careers we worked so hard to build for our futures.
Now that we’ve found recovery, we are passionate about giving it to others.
We can help you find recovery and maintain it in a variety of ways, whether this is through our recovery housing program, peer recovery coaching, recovery support meetings, and more. There is no better time than now to start working towards building a better future for yourself. You are always worth it, no matter what you’ve done or how you feel. We got you!
